Autumn is a pretty magical time in the world, and while Southern California stays pretty temperate the entire year, we still find ways to bring the festivities. From the rich, rustic colors to the countless fall activities, there’s always a way to bring the season here. One of the best ways to kick off this time is with a visit to the pumpkin patch! As a Santa Clarita family photographer, I spend a lot of time chatting with parents and finding out their favorite places in the area. Here are the two pumpkin patches in Santa Clarita you need to check out this year!
Kick Off The Fall Season With Some Pumpkin Patches In Santa Clarita
Gilchrist Farm

Throughout the fall season, Gilchrist Farm is loaded with activities your entire family is going to adore! Their celebration kicks off each year on September 30th. During all of October, they host a harvest festival that has something happening each weekend. The farm closes on Mondays but remains open throughout the rest of the week. While you are at this Santa Clarita farm, you are going to get the chance to search for the perfect pumpkin in their patches. They set up photo ops so you can have gorgeous memories of your time here.
The activities are a little limited during the weekdays, but you’ll still have plenty to do, including farm animal visits, straw bale mazes, pony rides, wagon rides, train rides, archery, crafts, and ax throwing. Throughout the afternoons, they have garden tours and goat milking demonstrations. The real fun, however, happens on the weekends. During this time, you are going to get the chance to listen to live music, watch wool spinning demonstrations, cheer for pig races, and try some pretty outrageous festival food. On the last weekend of the year, they have costume contests and trick-or-treating. The patch normally doesn’t allow pets, but they do have several days where they allow Pets in the Patch photo ops. You can bring your pup on a leash and take pictures while the entire family enjoys a gorgeous day out!

Every year, you can head out to the Cougar Stadium Parking Lot just outside Santa Clarita to pick out a pumpkin at Bennett’s Best makeshift patch. The space goes all out, bringing in inflatables, games, and other fun family activities. They have a photo station set up so your child can shop for their perfect pumpkin after they find them. Admission is always free, so you can stop by and check it out whenever you want. Once they conclude the fall season, be sure to keep your eyes open for their Christmas Tree farm!
